Expression Web Add-ins are programs you install on your computer that add functions to Expression Web that were not part of the original program. Some of the Add-ons are free and some are commercial products available for sale. Not all add-ins will work with every version of Expression Web.

FPCleaner

Steve Easton’s FPCleaner supports FrontPage (2000-2003), Expression Web (all versions) as well as SharePoint Designer 2007. Best of all this program is FREE. It is one of the programs I have consistently recommended if you have problems with the FrontPage and/or Expression Web as it cleans up the clutter of files that are left behind. It does not require installation and runs from your desktop. This is one of the essential tools in my arsenal of tools for web design work.

Contact Form Generator for Expression Web

ASP Contact Form Generator is a FREE, online tool that will generate an email contact form, including the back-end VB ASP.NET code, HTML form fields, field validators, a customizable confirmation message, a basic security test to minimize form SPAM, and more. No programming knowledge is required.

The form that this tool generates takes full advantage of ASP.NET 2.0 (the same technology required for Master Pages). The generated form and script must be placed in an ASP.NET page (.aspx) and deployed to a windows web server that supports ASP.NET 2.0 (not just ASP or ASP.NET or ASP.NET 1.1, but ASP.NET 2.0). FrontPage Server Extensions are NOT required.

The Contact Form Generator is not an add-in but a separate tool but works with all current versions of Expression Web.

FrontPage Bot Macro for Expression Web

The FP Bot Macro re-enables the ability to insert page Includes, Search Forms, Hit Counters, and Photo Galleries from the Insert menu in Expression Web. The FP Bot Macro also re-enables the Database Results Wizard (DRW) and adds the "Spooky Diet" macro to clean up the DRW code. This add-in works with Expression Web 1.0.

Spawn for Expression Web

Spawn for Expression Web is an add-in to Expression Web that allows you to easily create JavaScript popup windows in your site without having to write any code. Simply launch Spawn, set your options, and Spawn does all of the work for you. Spawn for Expression Web was developed by Jim Cheshire.

WebAssist

WebAssist was the developer of Eric Meyer's CSS Sculptor for Expression Web, a program that is no longer available but I still use with earlier versions of EW offer the following add-ins free.

Expression Web Extras Toolbar

A recent Windows update for Expression Web 2.0 now allows macros to run on Windows Vista. With the update I found that I could now use the Expression Web Extras Toolbar by offered by ExpressionExtras and Dennis DeRobertis. The toolbar contains several tools to help you with your search engine optimization (SEO) work. Expression Web Extras Toolbar for Expression Web 1 & 2 has been discontinued and support ends 06/30/2010.

SEO Tools for Expression Web is the replacement for Expression Web Extras Toolbar. It is available for Expression Web versions 1, 2, and 3. You can download a 14 day FREE trial to try it out before purchasing.

Task Pane Cleaner for Expression Web

The Task Pane Cleaner for Microsoft Expression Web keeps your workspace nice and neat. One click and all your task panes are hidden. Another click and they pop right back. Reclaim screen real estate and stay focused on the job at hand with this productivity boosting tool.

Once you install the program, the Task Pane Cleaner toolbar will be added to the Expression Web interface. Dock the toolbar anywhere you like and then use the sweep button to toggle your task panes on and off.
